Hoogheemraadschap Lekdijk Bovendams (Dutch Water Board Bond)
Page 1 of 3 - Perpetual 5 percent manuscript bond for 1000 guilders issued by the Water Board of Leckdijk Bovendams May 15, 1648. This is one of the oldest surviving securities that has paid interst into the present. It was issued to finance the repair of the dyke running along the Lek River near the town of Honswijk. Interest payments were continuously recorded on teh vellum document until the 20th century, when an allonge was issued to record the additional payments. The last recorded payment was collected July 1, 2003.
